Raasrang World Flute Festival 2012

Brazil Quartzo : Former member of Brazilian jazz group Acuri, Davi Mello (acoustic/electric guitars) presents his most recent project, Quartzo, alongside the talented musicians Ajurinã Zwarg (drums and percussion), Marcelo Müller (acoustic bass) and Aline Gonçalves (flutes and clarinet). Inspired by the roots of the Brazilian music, the group mixes folk Brazilian styles

	Gogona The *gogona* (Assamese: গগণা) is a type of jaw harp, a vibrating reed instrument that is used primarily in the traditional Bihu music in Assam. It is made of a piece of bamboo/horn that has a bifurcation on one end. The solid end is gripped with the teeth and the free ends are then struck repeatedly with the fingers to emit the distinctive sound of the gogona.

	Kalia The Kalia or also known as Kali is a tube that generally widens towards the horn side. The length is about 60 cm and is made of bamboo,brass or weed. On it’s body there are six to seven holes of different sizes which are used for playing.
	Sutuli It is made of one type of special clay. Generally it is half-moon shaped, empty in the inner part. It’s length is about 12 cm. But round shaped Sutuli (diameter 10cm) is also found in some villages of North East India. It has a hole in the middle to produce sounds by blowing air into it by the mouth. There are generally three holes in it’s body so as to control tune by fingering upon these holes as requested by the performer.
	Pepah '*Pepa'* is a flute-like musical instrument that is used in traditional music in Assam. It is usually with very short stem made from small diameter bamboo/cane/reed with the end away from the mouth capped with the horn of a buffalo. It is an integral part of the culture of Assam.
